The Art of Self-Study

Lately, the idea of self-study has been coming up for me during my personal practice. When I think about self-study, I think about awareness….awareness of the mind and patterns that shape how we move through the world.

Self-study is the practice of being honest with yourself, of noticing the parts of you that feel great, but also the parts you’d rather avoid. The uncomfortable truths. The habits, reactions, or thoughts that don’t always feel good to look at.

But what if we approached all of that with kindness? No judgment or shame. Just compassion.

Because the truth is, our outer world often mirrors our inner world. The way we see others and experience life reflects what’s happening within us…and that can be a hard thing to sit with. But it can also be empowering.

If we can observe ourselves without immediately labeling something as “good” or “bad,” we create space. Space to understand, to grow and to choose differently.

Our thoughts aren’t right or wrong, they just are. But we do have the ability to reframe them. To shift our perspective in a way that feels more supportive and aligned with the version of ourselves we’re becoming.

So the question is: how can we use awareness as a pathway towards alignment?

For me, this looks like slowing down, meditating, practicing yoga, and journaling.

Self-study isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about knowing yourself…and maybe, through that knowing, becoming a more aligned version of who you already are.

Something to sit with this week.

With love,

Jada
